Gwyn Lo is a birth control patch. It’s for women with a BMI less than 30 kg/m2 who can become pregnant. With Gwyn Lo, there is no medical procedure, no insertion, and no daily pill—it goes on your skin. It's applied in a 4-week cycle: once a week on the same day for 3 weeks, followed by a patch-free week on week 4.*
Gwyn Lo contains 2 female hormones, a progestin called norelgestromin, and an estrogen called ethinyl estradiol. It is a low-estrogen birth control patch.
*Check your patch daily and after any water exposure to make sure all edges are sticking correctly (so it works right).

The pill is taken daily. Gwyn Lo is a birth control patch that you wear all week. You put it on once weekly, and check it once daily, so you don’t have to remember to take a pill every day.
You put it on the same day once weekly for 3 weeks, then week 4 is patch free. You check your patch once daily and after any water exposure to make sure all edges are sticking correctly (so it works right). Avoid contact with water for long periods of time (30 minutes or more).
Combined hormonal birth control, like the pill or patch, may also contain different types and amounts of female hormones. Your doctor will discuss and determine what is right for you.

Gwyn Lo is designed to stay on the skin for 7 days. In a year-long study, ~99% of the 39,790 Gwyn Lo patches worn stayed on. That means 1.3% of patches fully detached over 7 days of wear. In 4 additional studies, 94% of the 342 Gwyn Lo patches worn had most or all of the patch still attached after 7 days of wear during activity and water exposure (in a treadmill, sauna, and hot tub).
Check your patch daily and after any water exposure to make sure all edges are sticking correctly (so it works right). Avoid contact with water for 30 minutes or longer as it can cause the patch to not stick, making Gwyn Lo less effective.
